The Québec Winter Carnival, in Partnership with Loto-Québec
The Carnival is family fun you won't want to miss! From January 27 to February 12, 2012, come experience one of the world's largest winter carnival in beautiful Québec City.
Every year, thousands of visitors flock to the Québec Winter Carnival to enjoy a host of activities for all ages, including snow baths, night parades, snow slides, giant foosball, snow sculptures, shows, sleigh rides, and skating.
New in 2012
Every year, our big winter carnival adds some new activities. Here are some of them for 2012:
- Bonhomme’s Ice Palace will be on the Plains of Abraham
- the preliminaries of the Canoe race will be on Grande Allée
- on Friday and Saturday nights, the heat will be on and the night life at its best in the igloo next to Bonhomme’s Palace
- spend the night at the camping site organised on the Plains of Abraham!

The Plains of Abraham: A Gigantic Playground
For two weeks, the Plains of Abraham morph into an enormous playground! Carnival-goers can take in shows or enjoy activities galore, including sliding, dogsled rides, snow sculptures, a sugar shack, snow rafting, and more!
Place Loto-Québec and Espace Hydro-Québec: Fun for the Whole Family
At Place Loto-Québec (Place de l'Assemblée-Nationale), visit Bonhomme's unique glittering Ice Palace.
Then head up to Espace Hydro-Québec where during the Carnival's three weekends, music, dance and zany entertainment await you.
Mr. Christie Village: the Place for Kids!
Another spot where kids of all ages can cut loose is Mr. Christie Village, with its soapbox derbies, ice slides, games of skill, snow tunnel, and obstacle courses. Activities are led by wacky characters who keep everybody laughing.
The Classics
And who could forget winter carnival classics like the night parades, snow baths, ice-canoe races, dog races, and the International Snow Sculpture Competition, a perennial favorite that keeps people coming back year after year.
Family-Friendly Carnival Services
At Place Desjardins (Plains of Abraham), sleds for kids are available for loan at the Carnival Information Center, where friendly staff will be happy to answer all your questions.
For a hot meal, stop off at the heated Métro tent. You'll find food services and tables and chairs for weary visitors, as well as rest rooms, change tables, and payphones.
And to keep a smile on the kids' faces, don't miss the Carnival Souvenir Kiosk where a full line of carnival mementos will make the little ones' day!
