Taxi

Taxis in Québec City can be identified by the sign on their roofs. There are several companies. We suggest that you call one of them and they will send a car. You can also get a cab at one of the various taxi stands in the city.

Public Transit (local buses)

The Réseau de transport de la capitale (RTC) provides access to most tourist attractions (see map).
For unlimited travel, pick up one of the passes:

  • 1-day pass, unlimited weekends and 5 consecutive days

Family privilege (Kids accompanied by you ride free):

  • Always free for children 5 years ans under
  • Children age 6-11 ride free on weekends (starting 5:30 p.m. on Fridays), on holidays, and in summer (from June 23 to Labour Day).

Some 170 businesses sell RTC tickets and passes (mostly convenience stores and drugstores).
Look for the RTC logo in the window.

Ferry

The ferry links Québec City and Lévis 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It sails on the hour and half-hour during the day and every hour at night.

Limousines and Other Vehicules with Driver

Taxi Boat

To go from point A to point B along or across the St. Lawrence River, take the taxi boat (zodiac type). Reservation necessary.

Motorcycle

Note that motorcycles are not allowed inside the walls of the Old City unless you have a reservation at a hotel inside the walls.

Québec City's historical Upper Town and Lower Town districts are easy to explore on foot.

In summer, from the end of May to the beginning of October, many departures per day from downtown to Wendake.

In summer, from the end of June to mid-August, departures from different places in Québec City.

Parc de la Jacques-Cartier
Every day from mid-June to beginning of September and on weekends until mid-October. One departure a day (at 6:40 a.m. from Québec City Bus Station). *Other departure times are also offered but the bus will leave you 10 km from the service center. Book online at Intercar  or directly at bus stations.

Train de Charlevoix
In summer, from mid-June to the end of October, many departures per day from downtown to gare de la Chute Montmorency Railway Station.

Côte-de-Beaupré

It is possible to travel with an intercity bus (Intercar) to get to these places: close to the Tourist Information Bureau in Boischatel, to the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Shrine (stop at the Couche-tard in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré) and at the Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix (stop at the Esso Boni-soir cenvenience store in Saint-Tite-des-Caps). Départures from and arrivals at the Gare du Palais in Québec. Operation on weekdays and week-ends.

PLUMobile offers transportation from Monday to Friday. Many departure points in Québec City such as Place D’Youville, Gare du Palais and near Beauport bus terminal. The stops are a few steps from major tourist sites.

Île d’Orléans

PLUMobile offers transportation from Monday to Friday, no reservations necessary. Many departure points in Québec City such as Place D’Youville, Gare du Palais and near Beauport bus terminal. The stops are a few steps from major tourist sites.

Jacques-Cartier

An intercity bus (Intercar) can drop you at the entrance of Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier. From there, the visitors center is a 10 km walk. In summer, a shuttle service can drop you directly to the Parc de la Jacques-Cartier Visitor Center.

Portneuf

To get in the Portneuf area, there is a shuttle service (without reservation) from Monday to Friday towards the end of the day.

Wendake

In the summer months, from the end of May to the beginning of October, many departures per day from downtown to WendakeLe Réseau de transport de la capitale (RTC) also runs to Wendake.

The Gare du Palais train station is in the Old City. Public transit (RTC) and taxi are available.

The Sainte-Foy Train Station is 5 minutes by taxi from nearby hotels.

Bus Terminals (intercity transportation)

Terminals in the Old City and the borough of Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge are served by the RTC public transit system and by taxi.
