Have you ever considered holding a day of training, special presentation or off-site activity at a museum? Museums can be fantastic venues to inspire attendees and give them a closer look at a host city’s heritage and culture.

In Québec City, the Musée de la civilisation not only has an world-class exhibition schedule and specialized tours that will please all tastes but also features event space rentals that blend the city’s past and present. The museum’s Grand Hall is ideal for cocktail receptions—while the chapel at the Musée de l’Amérique francophone offers a stunning architectural backdrop for sophisticated banquets and ceremonies.

Give them a day at the beach!

We’re not kidding! Many cities have event facilities and amenities that border fun waterfronts. Organizing an off-site activity at the beach is perfect for team building sessions or simply allow attendees to unwind after a day of presentations and meetings.

At the Baie de Beauport, Québec City’s riverside beach, provides stunning views of Old Québec and Ile d’Orléans, a charming island the creates various terroir products. The beach spans over 1 km (0.6 mi.) and has a banquet hall for groups of between 10 to 500 people for special events. From water sports to beach volleyball and soccer, event attendees will have an amazing time!

Plunge them into military history

As you do your research, make sure you verify if a host city has a long-standing military background. The reason? Some former buildings or facilities may have been converted into venues for conventions or conferences.

The Voltigeurs de Québec Armoury is a former Gothic Revival drill hall for the infantry regiment of Les Voltigeurs de Québec. Constructed between 1885 and 1888, it is a National Historic Site of Canada, which pays tribute to the city’s rich military heritage. Nestled between the awe-inspiring Fortifications of Québec, iconic Plains of Abraham, and bustling Grande Allée, the armoury, which was partially damaged by a fire in 2008, will reopen in the spring of 2018 and is set to offer state-of-the-art multifunctional rooms for all types of events welcoming between 400 and 1300 guests.

Surround them with music

Theatres and concert halls are not necessarily just for the entertainment of local citizens. In fact, many can undergo a metamorphose into meeting rooms or reception halls for an innovative event venue.

Québec City’s Palais Montcalm, located near the Québec City Convention Centre, is an internationally renowned concert hall with outstanding acoustics. It offers a wide range of event services, including AV, F&B and event planning. It can cater from 175 to over 800 delegates.

Offer them an enriching—and relaxing moment

Imagine being able to host an off-site event and improve attendees’ overall health and well-being at the same time. Make sure to research unique event venues that add a wellness component to the mix.

For example, Le Monastère des Augustines, burrowed in the heart of Old Québec, is a former monastery that has recently been converted into a haven of heritage, culture and wellness—and ideal place to hold a relaxing off-site event. Thanks to the 42-million-dollar restoration, the Le Monastère des Augustines features a contemporary hotel, over 10 meeting rooms of various sizes and configurations, a museum and a renowned restaurant that serves delicious, healthy meals. If you are looking to create a one-of-a-kind experience for delegates, this venue hits the mark!

As you can see, unique event venues, especially in 2018, are not hard to find! Make sure you do your homework: some building and facilities may not look like they offer event rental spaces and services—but they do! Never miss an opportunity to discuss with local representatives as they have the lowdown on venues that will blow your mind!
