Founded in 1848 for the purpose of promoting knowledge and culture, L'Institut Canadien de Québec manages Québec City's public library network, including Gabrielle-Roy and Monique-Corriveau. Each year, L'Institut presents Québec en toutes lettres, a festival devoted to literature (next event : October 21 to October 29, 2017). It runs Première Ovation program for young authors and artists, and manages Maison de la littérature, a literary oriented centre located in Old Québec.
Hours: Gabrielle-Roy library : Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free admission.
Closed: Closed June 24, December 24 and 25, December 31, January 1.
