Whether it’s a visit to the famous Aquarium du Québec or a local farm, there are plenty of places where curious visitors can come into contact with nature and animals in the area. Many regional parks also have wildlife observation activities. As you’ll see, there’s no need to go to the zoo to learn about animals!

Aquarium du Québec

Aquarium du Québec is home to over 10,000 marine animals, including seals that put on quite a show! There are also tons of fun and surprising seasonal activities that will keep you entertained for hours. You’ll get to marvel at the depths of the Pacific Ocean as you walk through the Grand Ocean tunnel and touch Atlantic rays in a petting basin.

Aquarium du Québec will immerse you in the beauty of the underwater world, but that’s not all. In the summer there’s a splash pad, a ropes course, and a park with picnic tables—everything you need for a wonderful day with the family.

A Day at the Farm

Heard of agritourism? It’s a form of tourism that puts you in direct contact with farmers and ranchers happy to share their knowledge and their stories of farm life. It’s an enriching experience full of people and food, where you’ll get to connect with nature and find out just what it takes to live on a farm.

You’ll get to feed and pet animals, of course, but there’s lots more to see and do, like bringing a picnic to enjoy in an idyllic farm setting and even picking fresh fruit to go with your lunch (during harvest season, of course)! At most farms you’ll also have access to an exclusive selection of local products. Trust us—your whole family will love their day at the farm.

Wildlife Watching

The Québec City area is also known for its vast regional parks just outside the city that are home to all kinds of wildlife. Head out like a great explorer to observe moose, whales, beavers, great snow geese, and even black bears in their natural habitats.

The secret is to know where to go depending on the time of year. From May to October, for example, there are beaver observation activities at Jacques Cartier National Park and you can have the chance to observe moose in the fall. As for black bears, they hibernate during the winter but can be observed safely with a guide in warmer months. If you’d like to spend a day out on the water whale watching, many tour companies offer one‑day excursions out of Québec City.
