In 2002, two long-standing villages on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River merged to form the municipality of Deschambault-Grondines. The municipality's 2,000 residents then joined forces to develop the cultural, touristic and historic aspects of their new, larger community. Today, Deschambault-Grondines is a member of the Association des plus beaux villages du Québec, a network of Québec villages that have conserved their heritage and are located in a stunning landscape.
