A heritage treasure on the Isle of Orléans, maison Drouin is one of the oldest houses inspired by French style on the island. Built in Sainte-Famille in 1729 and expanded in 1734, this structure owes its considerable architectural and historical value to its geographical location and its well-preserved interior. A visit to the house is like travelling back through time and experiencing nearly three hundred of history in one go! You will appreciate the rich heritage of the site, consisting of a farmhouse converted into a historical interpretation centre about the island. Your tour of this typical period dwelling, adapted to local climatic conditions, is highlighted by a number of fascinating videos. Note the layout and characteristics of houses at the time. A dynamic guide will tell you all about the life of 18th-century farmers who settled on this picturesque island in the St. Lawrence River.
