  1. Barbie and fashion. 1959-1966

  From the time of her creation in 1959 and throughout the 60’s, Barbie’s wardrobe was inspired by the styles of the biggest designers, including Dior, Chanel, Balenciaga… Barbie then went on to adopt the styles that were in vogue each decade. Her image changed over time, and she took on new roles: she was at once a professional and a mother, a career woman, an artist and an athlete. Golden Age of Couture. Paris, London, 1947-1957. The golden age has given the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec an excuse to put together this presentation which showcases the work of Denis Allison, the MNBAQ’s main designer. This collection features Barbie’s first period of production (1959- 1966), when the fashions she sported were refined in style and cut as well as through the fabrics and accessories used. Always on the cutting edge, the famous doll has influenced the fashion world for over 50 years. The Barbie and fashion. 1959-1966 exhibit will allow the public at large to rediscover some of her most memorable outfits

  2. Understanding the Seven Years War

  In this year marking the 250th anniversary of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, the exhibit 1756–1763, Story of a War at Musée de la civilisation in Québec City presents a global look at the Seven Years War. This conflict, the first to have truly worldwide ramifications, had major repercussions in the Americas including the loss of New France at the hands of the English. Presented until March 14, 2010, this historical overview allows visitors to better understand the context surrounding the September 13, 1759 confrontation that, although brief, had such a profound impact on Québec history. This exhibit is a coproduction of Musée de la civilisation and the Stewart Museum.

  5. The Montréal-Québec series

  Following reality TV, make room for reality hockey with the Montréal-Québec series, the series of the century pitting two garage league teams against one another! Two teams, each made of 14 amateur players (who have never signed a professional contract) will defend their city's honour.
