New for Winter 2012–2013!

The greater Québec City area has loads of new things for you to do and new places to explore this winter!

Hok skis take hold all around Québec City

Hok skis are a cross between cross-country skis and snowshoes. The principle is simple—the short, wide skis allow you walk easily in fresh snow without sinking in. Each ski also has a synthetic climbing skin in its base so you don’t slip while climbing. You can Hok ski on your own, or with a guide at Station touristique Duchesnay as well as at Forêt Montmorency-Université Laval.

Even more fun at Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier

The popular Sentier des Loups Trail is more accessible than ever in winter thanks to a new snowcat shuttle service running between the visitors centre and the trail, with its breathtaking views of the valley and snow-covered mountains. There’s also a new 100 hectare area being opened up for Telemark skiing, snowshoeing, and backcountry skiing.

New challenges at Stoneham Mountain Resort

With new glades this winter, Stoneham has boosted its total to 41 runs, including 10 glades, for every skill level. La Biche (the doe) is a popular intermediate run, while experts looking for a thrill will appreciate L’Urubu (the vulture), a steep double black diamond. Stoneham Mountain Resort will also take advantage of the FIS World Snowboard Championships to work on its Olympic halfpipe. The halfpipe will be extended by 15 metres, giving it a total length of 145 metres, enough for professionals to add another jump to every run. Mere recreational snowboarders too will have room for a few extra turns.
