Founded in 1989, the CMAQ is the only organization authorized under the Act respecting the Professional status of artists in the visual arts, arts and crafts and literature, and their contracts with promoters (S.32.01) to represent all handicraft professionals in the province. The goals of this organization are to ensure that specialized know-how is shared and developed; to defend the interests of, promote and provide services to its members; and to assist in promoting and marketing the works of its members to help them earn a livelihood through the sale of those works.
