A Paradise For Skiers
Québec City
is rightly recognized as the snow capital. People here have succeeded in
taming winter. In the early days, that may not have been easy, but now
winter is a source of pleasure, fun and joy. Since the area is covered
with a white mantle of snow from November to April, then it may as well
be appreciated. "A more romantic city doesn't exist in North
America, certainly not one near such excellent skiing", described
Senior Editor Ron Rudolph from Snow Country Magazine.
People in Québec
City enjoy all types of winter fun by taking part in sports and cultural
activities. There is downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and the now
very popular sport of snowboarding.
Some of the Best
Downhill Skiing in the East From atop the fortifications, you can see
some of the most popular ski slopes in eastern North America. Skiers are
delighted with the exceptional natural snow conditions in the area. Year
in year out, the average snowfall is 342 cm (135 inches). But even if
Nature does fall short (which is rare!), all the major ski centres in
the area are equipped with efficient artificial snowmaking to take over.
Whether you are an expert or a beginner, you will find slopes to make
you smile.
Ski and outdoor
enthusiasts will find three ski centres thirty minutes or less from
downtown: Mont-Sainte-Anne, Station touristique Stoneham and Le Relais.
They are the major
ski centres in the area. They all rent ski equipment for beginning or
experienced skiers and offer child care facilities, nighttime skiing for
discovering the mountain in another light, meal services and boutiques.
