Bring Back Memories !
Shop 'Til You Drop In Québec City

During your visit, a trip to one of the many picturesque shopping districts or one of the many shopping centres is a must. They all offer so much to discover; you'll find souvenirs and special gifts. Draw up a list first however; there is that much to choose from!

Just a few of the many commercial shopping districts include: rue Saint-Jean, côte de la Fabrique and rue Cartier, all located in Québec City's Upper Town. Rue du Trésor, near City Hall (Hôtel de Ville), is in fact an outdoor art gallery and is a must see for anyone who enjoys watercolours, prints or sketches by local artists. Down below the Château Frontenac, Quartier Petit-Champlain is the oldest commercial district in North America. 45 shops and boutiques are located in restored historical houses. Not far away, near the Old Port, several antique dealers and art galleries have decided to open shop on rue Saint-Paul next to several cafés and restaurants known for their ambience.

All these bustling streets offer a wide variety of businesses from specialty and health food stores to cafés, restaurants and local bistros with art galleries, handcrafts, clothes, toys, gifts and more. Several of these arts and crafts boutiques offer wood sculptures, Inuit art, traditional braided belts, knits, blown glass, clothes by Québec designers, etc. Summer is also the time when farmers in the area bring the best of their vegetable gardens to the Marché du Vieux-Port and the Marché de la Place in Sainte-Foy.

The area also has several large shopping centres where you may find anything and everything your heart desires!

So, no matter what your preferences are, one thing is certain... you are sure to make a lot of discoveries and find the perfect souvenir or gift to make you as happy as the person you give it to. One last detail for window shoppers: the Québec City Area has a quality of life that is reflected in the high degree of safety on the streets both for residents and for visitors. So enjoy strolling and window shopping to your heart's desire.
