“The high point of the cruise” Contest

How to Enter

  1. The contest runs from December 10, 2012, at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time (ET), to March 31, 2013, at 11:59 p.m. (ET) (hereinafter the "contest period").
  2. This contest is organized by Québec City Tourism (hereinafter the "contest organizers").
  3. To enter the “The high point of the cruise” Contest for a chance to win the prize, you must fill out the contest entry form available at www.quebeccitycruises.ca during the contest period. To complete the form, enter the required information and provide the answer to the question. Then, click "Submit" to send your entry form by no later than March 31, 2013, at 11:59 (ET).

Eligibility

  1. This contest is open to legal residents of Canada (except Québec province residents), and to legal residents of United States who have reached the age of majority in their country or state of residence at the time of the draw.
  2. The contest is not open to employees, agents, or representatives of the contest organizers, their advertising and promotions agencies, suppliers of contest materials or services used in connection with this contest, or their immediate family members (brothers, sisters, children, fathers, or mothers), legal or common-law spouses, or anyone residing with these employees, agents, or representatives.
  3. No purchase is required to enter.
  4. Entrants must comply with the following eligibility limitations, failing which they may be disqualified:
    • One (1) entry per person per valid email address during the contest period
    • Only (1) email address per person during the contest period

Draw

  1. On April 1st, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. (ET) at the Québec City Tourism office, one (1) entry form will be drawn from among all the entry forms registered during the contest period.

General Conditions

  1. To be declared a winner, the selected entrant must:
    • Be reached by phone by the contest organizers within ten (10) days of the random draw.
    • Have entered the correct answer to the question on the entry form.
    • For the entrant and his/her guest, sign and complete the declaration and release form (hereinafter the "release form") provided by the contest organizers and return it to the contest organizers within ten (10) days of its receipt.
  2. Should the selected entrant fail to comply with the above conditions or any other condition provided for in these rules, he/she will be disqualified, and a new random draw will be held in accordance with these rules until an entrant is selected and declared a winner.
  3. Within ten (10) days of receiving the release form, the contest organizers will send a letter to the winner to inform him/her of how to claim the prize.
  4. For the purposes of these rules, the entrant is the person whose name appears on the entry form. The prize will be awarded to this person if he/she is selected and declared a winner.
 

Prize

  1. The prize has an approximate value of C$5,000.  The winner must claim the prize during the 2013 cruise season.

    Prize for two people includes:
    • A Canada/New England cruise applicable to any 2013 7 day cruise on MS Veendam (Holland America)*.
    • Airfare from Canada or the United States**.
    • 2 nights at the Clarendon Hotel, including a gourmet dinner at Restaurant Charles Baillargé.
    • A gourmet dinner including one selected bottle of wine at Le Café de la Paix restaurant.

    *The Cruise

    The cruise is subject to availability and must be booked 30 days prior to departure. The prize includes a Canada/New England cruise for two people in an outside cabin. Applicable to any 2013 7-day cruise on Veendam (Holland America). The contest winner is required to take the cruise in order to claim the other prize components (airfare, accommodation, meals), which will only be awarded in conjunction with the cruise.

    **Transportation

    Depending on the winner’s place of residence:

    • Two economy class plane tickets from the airport closest to the winner’s residence directly served by Air Canada to the cruise departure city;
    • Two economy class plane tickets from the cruise arrival city to the airport closest to the winner’s residence directly served by Air Canada.
  2. The following conditions apply to the prize awarded to the winner. The Prize winner and his/her travelling companion are entirely responsible for:
    • All applicable fees (such as airport/departure taxes, security charges or other third party fees, taxes or charges).
    • The cost of travel from the winner's home to the closest airport and back upon departure and return.
    • Any and all costs not expressly described herein including, but not limited to, ground transportation, gratuities, merchandise, telephone calls, personal expenses of any nature for overnight layovers, meals and beverages, and service charges.
    • Obtaining sufficient personal travel insurance prior to departure, if desired.
    • Obtaining and carrying all necessary travel documentation, such as identification, passports, and visas and complying with customs immigrations regulations.
    • Blackout restrictions apply and will be communicated to the winner.
    • Tickets are valid for Air Canada and Air Canada Express scheduled flights only (not valid for Star Alliance partners or code sharing carriers).
    • Tickets are non-transferable, non-refundable and not redeemable for cash, and are subject to the terms and conditions of the transporter’s contract of carriage.
    • Transportation and booking is subject to seat availability at time of reservation.
    • Once tickets have been issued, the origin and destination cannot be changed; flight time and/or date of travel changes carry a change fee per ticket, and are subject to availability.
    • Frequent flyer miles will not be awarded and upgrades are not permitted.
    • Promotional pass recipients may be held liable to Air Canada for failure to adhere to the restrictions and conditions of travel applicable to their tickets or for the fraudulent use of tickets.
  3. Entry forms are subject to verification by the contest organizers. Any entry form that is incomplete, fraudulent, late, or that lacks the correct answer to the question, may be rejected and will not entitle the entrant to the prize. Any decision by the contest organizers with respect to any aspect of this contest, including and without limitation, eligibility and/or disqualification of entries or entrants, will be final and without appeal.
  4. The contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify any person or to cancel any entry of any person who enters or attempts to enter the contest by any means contrary to these rules or unfair to other entrants (e.g., computer hacking, etc.). Such persons will be disqualified and may be reported to the appropriate legal authorities. Decisions by the contest organizers in this respect are final and without appeal.
  5. The prize must be accepted as described in these rules and cannot be transferred to another person, substituted for another prize, or exchanged in whole or in part for cash, subject to the provisions of the following section. The prize will be provided as packaged in the contest, no changes are allowed.
  6. If, for reasons not related to the winner, the contest organizers are unable to award the prize as described in these rules, they reserve the right to award a similar prize of equal value or, at their sole discretion, the cash value of the prize indicated in these rules.
  7. The selected entrant releases the contest organizers, their advertising and promotions agencies, and each of the foregoing entity's employees, agents, and representatives from any damages he/she may suffer as a result of accepting or using his/her prize. To be declared a winner and prior to receiving his/her prize, the selected entrant agrees to sign a release form to this effect. The release form must also be signed before departure by the guest of legal age or the parent or legal guardian of any underage guest who is not the winner's child.
  8. The selected entrant acknowledges that upon receipt of a letter from the contest organizers confirming the prize, the provision of services in connection with the prize will become the sole and exclusive responsibility of each supplier of the items comprising such prize. To be declared a winner and prior to receiving the prize, the selected entrant agrees to sign a release form containing a statement to this effect.
  9. The contest organizers, their advertising and promotions agencies, and their employees, agents, and representatives bear no liability for faulty computers, computer components, software, or phone lines, for the loss or absence of communication networks, or for faulty, defective, incomplete, incomprehensible, or erased computer or network transmissions that could limit the possibility or prevent any person from entering the contest. The contest organizers, their advertising and promotions agencies, and their employees, agents, and representatives waive all liability for any damages or loss that may be caused directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by the downloading of any Internet page or software, or by the transmission of any information with a view to entering this contest.
  10. Subject to authorization from Régie des alcools des courses et des jeux, the contest organizers reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this contest in whole or in part in the event that unauthorized human intervention or any other occurrence corrupts or adversely affects the administration, security, impartiality, or normal operation of the contest as specified in these rules. In no event can the contest organizers or their subsidiaries, advertising and promotions agencies, or suppliers of goods or services used in connection with this contest, or their employees, agents, or representatives, be required to award more than one prize or award a prize other than in accordance with these rules.
  11. By entering this contest, the winner authorizes the contest organizers and their representatives to use, if required, his/her name, photograph, likeness, statement regarding the prize, place of residence, and/or voice for advertising purposes without any compensation whatsoever. The winner agrees to sign a release form containing a statement to this effect.
  12. No communication or correspondence will be exchanged with entrants except with the person selected for the prize.
  13. Anyone entering or attempting to enter this contest absolves the contest organizers, their advertising and promotions agencies, their subsidiaries, and its affiliates, and each of the foregoing entity's employees, agents, and representatives of all liability for any damages they may suffer as a result of entering or attempting to enter the contest.
  14. By entering this contest, entrants acknowledge that the contest organizers will collect their personal information. All contest entries received become the property of the contest organizers.
  15. The name of the official contest winner will be posted on Québec City Tourism’s website and social media accounts.
  16. By entering the contest, entrants agree to comply with these contest rules and all decisions made by the contest organizers, which shall be considered final.
  17. Any disputes regarding the conduct or organization of a promotional contest may be submitted to Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Disputes regarding the awarding of prizes may be submitted to the Régie but only for the purposes of helping the parties to reach a settlement.
